SXSW GO Features

• Event Status - We’ve made it easy for you to check the current status of a room or a venue’s remaining capacity for conference sessions and festival events.

  • A Green-Yellow-Red system appears on the app, the online SXSW Schedule, and on the digital Event Status Boards located around the ACC and other venues.

Green = GO

Yellow = HURRY

Red = FULL

• Networking – Search the directory for other SXSW attendees and send direct messages. Boost your networking with personalized recommendations from SXSW Recommends. Opt-in to location services to see who’s around you.

• Schedule – Browse the entire SXSW Schedule and plan your week. Watch film trailers, listen to artist’s tracks, and learn more about conference session speakers. Star events as My Favorites and easily sync your favorites between devices. Toggle easily between the full schedule and My Schedule of your saved favorites.

• SXSW Recommends - The SXSW Recommends algorithm has been optimized for SXSW with machine learning! Get personalized recommendations and opt-in to notifications for real-time recommendations.

• SXXpress Pass - SXXpress (South by Express) Pass is a digital pass for SXSW registrants that allows front-of-line access to Music Showcases, Film & TV Screenings, Conference Sessions, and select parties. Learn more here.

• Venue Size - Both the app and the online SXSW Schedule will show room size information as small, medium, or large for any venue to help you plan your schedule.

• Events Nearby - See events currently happening close to your current location that also have available capacity.

Login

To start, make sure that you have logged into the SXSW GO app. If you haven’t created an account yet, you can do so by going to social.sxsw.com. This will allow you to build your SXSW Schedule and sync your Favorites between different devices.

Link Your Badge

To get the most out of the SXSW GO app, link your SXSW Badge.

Link your SXSW Account by going to “My Profile” in the SXSW GO App or on social.sxsw.com. A SXSW Link Code can also be found in your registration confirmation email.

Once this is done you’ll be able to:

• Connect with attendees
• Receive personalized Recommendations
• Adjust your profile visibility to align with your goals
• Upload a photo for your badge
• Verify privacy settings
• See what events are happening nearby in March
• Get onsite schedule updates for your badge type in March

Set Location to "Always"

Have you set your location settings? You’ll need to opt-in if you want to receive curated recommendations of events happening around you during the event.

Following these directions to opt-in:

• Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services (Make sure that Location Services is on)
• Scroll down to find the app
• Tap the app and select the "Always" option

"Always" will allow access to your location even when the app is in the background to get the most out of your SXSW adventure. Now you're all set!

Enable Bluetooth

Enable Bluetooth to ensure that you are able to receive our personalized recommendations. If you’re not sure if Bluetooth is enabled, go to Settings > Privacy > Bluetooth and enable the SXSW GO app.

Opt-In For Push Notifications

Opt-in to receive push messages to stay up-to-date on the latest SXSW happenings including event additions or changes. You can do this in the app by simply going to the side menu > Profile, and click on the gear at the top right-hand corner. On that page, you'll see the "Opt-In for Notifications" field under "NOTIFICATIONS AND ALERTS".

Finalize Your Profile

If you haven’t finished setting up your profile, we recommend you take a minute to do so now by following these steps:

1. Upload a profile photo
2. Update your bio
3. Add tags to your profile

All this will help you get the most out of our networking capabilities and your own SXSW experience.

Check Out Events Nearby

Events Nearby uses your current location along with the SXSW Schedule’s current Event Status to show a real-time list of events happening near you. Don’t forget to take advantage, simply open the SXSW GO app and click on “Events Nearby” in the navigation menu to get started.

Favorite and Message Attendees

Don’t forget to network! You can use the SXSW GO app to search the directory for other SXSW attendees with similar interests/goals and send direct messages. You’ll be able to boost your networking this SXSW season even further by receiving personalized recommendations from SXSW Recommends on the best people to connect with.

Opt-in to location services to see who’s around you. You can verify if you’ve opted into the Attendee List by going to the SXSW GO App > Settings > Attendee List and Messaging to make sure the networking options are turned on.

Once you’ve discovered attendees to connect with, reach out by sending a direct message. Many attendees meet their next creative collaborator, business partner, producer, investor, and more at SXSW.

Favoriting Artists, Speakers, Films, and Events

Take advantage of the scheduling perks in the SXSW GO App. Here’s a perk: If you Favorite an artist, speaker, or film within the app, all of their events will be added to your schedule. With so many things happening this year, it’s important to keep track of what you really want to see.

SXXPress Pass

Sign up for your SXXpress (South by Express) Passes through the app! SXXpress Passes allow registrants with Platinum, Interactive, Film & TV, and Music Badges to request priority access to individual Conference sessions and parties, Music Festival Showcases, Film & TV Festival Screenings, and Comedy Festival Showcases.

SXXpress Pass signup opens at 9am on the day before an event. Best of all, they are digital and can be requested directly through the SXSW GO app as well as the SXSW Schedule.

Before you can sign up for SXXpress Passes, you must log in and link your badge in SXSW GO or SXSW Social, using the SXSW Link Code found in your registration confirmation email.

RSVP for Mentor Sessions

Our Mentor Sessions offer one-on-one coaching by professionals from all areas of the tech, film, and music industries. Within the 75 minute duration of Mentor Sessions, there will be five one-on-one meetings lasting 15 minutes each. Mentor Sessions require advance sign-up and access is limited to the badge types listed on the Mentor’s schedule information.

How Do I View Content?

Please login to gain access to SXSW content. If you have a SXSW Badge, your login is the email you used to purchase your badge and that you previously linked at https://id.sxsw.com/ Once logged in, you will be able to pair your device to your SXSW account. Note: pairing codes are case sensitive.

If you do not have a SXSW Badge, you may purchase a View Only Pass via in-app purchase.

What is the SXSW TV View Only Pass?

The SXSW TV View Only Pass allows non-SXSW badgeholders to view content on SXSW TV apps. SXSW TV View Only Pass purchasers will not have access to other SXSW Platforms, networking tools, or RSVP access.

Please Note: SXSW TV View Only Passes will not have access to RSVP gated content. View Only passes are only available for purchase in SXSW TV apps.

Navigation

Each event section of the app includes playlists by theme to help you browse the complete library.

Channels will be active once the SXSW event begins and will provide non-stop content throughout the event.

The Channel Guide is a visual listing of the events happening in the each programming channel.

When to Play?

Start watching now with SXSW Flashback playlists showcasing highlights from previous SXSW events as you await new content which goes live when the event begins.

FAQs

Why can’t I play a video?

While videos in the Flashback Playlists are viewable to everyone, the majority of SXSW content is restricted to our credentialed users.

If you have a SXSW Badge, please log in with your SXSW email address and password. Your credential must be linked. Visit id.sxsw.com to link your credential.

Why don’t I see an event on the schedule?

SXSW content will appear in the SXSW TV apps at their scheduled date and time. See the full schedule at schedule.sxsw.com.

Watch the Channel streams for these events as they happen. Most events will be available on demand shortly after their scheduled event time ends.

Can I watch this outside of the US?

Most content is available both in and outside the US, however some may be restricted to US only and will not be playable. US only content will be noted in the video’s details.

How long will the content be available?

Most content is available during the dates of the event unless an end date is specified. For more information on content availability visit schedule.sxsw.com.

What Connected TVs can I watch on?
